Dog Days: The Complete Lee Melvin Collection

On December 16th, 2023, I decided to finally compile the three Dog Days stories into a single volume, including the Author’s Notes I’d included in each of the individual releases. This title is available exclusively in paperback format.

Lee Melvin left his years as a soldier behind him in the jungles of Vietnam, and he embraced a peaceful life of sobriety in the mountains of Western South Dakota. But a small act of heroism disrupts everything and sends Lee down a path of violence and revenge…and it won’t be the last time.

Based on true stories from the life of the author’s uncle, the three individual Dog Days stories are collected in this one volume along with the author’s notes, detailing the lines that separate fact from fiction.

What readers have had to say about the individual Lee Melvin stories:

“Heartbreaking, savage, and yet extremely cathartic.”

“Gritty, real, and satisfying.”

“…when the violence does come, it makes you feel like it’s not only justified but necessary.”

Dog Days: The Hunt

On June 21st of 2022, I followed up the release of Dog Days with a sequel, Dog Days: The Hunt, and the announcement that it would be the second installment of a trilogy of stories centered around the character of Lee Melvin. The character and the events are still based on my uncle and his life after the true events that inspired Dog Days.

In the snow-covered higher elevations of Montana’s Rocky Mountains, Lee is on the hunt for a black bear, armed with only his bow.

When a couple of poachers kill the wrong prey, Lee takes the law into his own hands and the snow will be pink with blood before he’s through.

The Redwoods Ripper by Joshua MacMillan

When Tony absconded with his father’s Remington 30-06 rifle and planned a venture into the redwood forest, he didn’t anticipate having his little brother, Timmy in tow. Hoping to make his father proud of him, he wanted nothing more than to show that he could behave like a man.
Wanting to spook his little brother, Tony tells Timmy about The Redwoods Ripper, a monster that preys on those who find themselves alone in the woods. Of course, a short while later Tony has to relieve himself.
Will the Ripper come for Tony or Timmy? Is it nothing more than a story Tony made up, or is it something more?
Joshua MacMillan shares a brief, but intensely heartbreaking story of childhood mistakes. The reader will see it coming before things go bad, and that makes it all the more awful to helplessly watch as the rest of the story unfolds.

This title is one of the two titles released for Day Five of the 31 Days of Godless event at Godless. You can get it for yourself by going to http://www.godless.com or by downloading the Godless app. The link is below:
